“Pueblos Remotos”<\/a><\/strong> is a new challenge that does not arise by chance. In fact, I believe that many of the decisions I’ve taken in recent years have led me here. Without being very aware of it, but wanting it with all my heart, I was getting closer and closer to what I once dreamed of: the development of a sustainable and meaningful tourism model for my beloved island. This model is called \u201cconnected rurality\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the intersection between the new economy, sustainable tourism, digitalization and entrepreneurship, there is a new way: the connected rurality”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

We seek to reactivate rural environments for the benefit of the local community. We want towns to become places full of opportunities, where young people want to stay and start their own projects. Where, in addition, the neighbors look for synergies and support each other because only by working together and connecting with each other we will achieve real change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Icod Remoto, the first experience of “Pueblos Remotos” is already a reality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our first pilot, Icod Remoto,<\/strong> was born even before than Pueblos Remotos. The local actors and this magnificent place pushed Carlos Jonay Su\u00e1rez and I to consider whether we really wanted to pursue this development model. We did not think much about it and in a few months we decided to take the plunge, because at the end of the day “Nothing ventured nothing gained”,<\/em><\/strong> right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Icod Remoto is the implementation of the theories that many talk about: to diversify the tourism products of our islands, to attract talent that contributes to our local ecosystem, to motivate our entrepreneurs, to go back to our roots, to preserve our culture and heritage, in short, to make visible what we really are and what we want for the future generations. Above all, we seek to demonstrate that another type of rural development is possible, through a model in which visitors have the opportunity to connect not only with the natural environment, but with sustainable projects, with the local population and with themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We want to build a new model of co-creation, fostering sustainable development and a positive socio-economic impact that lasts in the territories where we work”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Being a sustainable tourism specialist, remote worker and lover of the rural world, after 16 years studying and working in various countries and continents, I decided to return to the Canary Islands a couple of years ago with the clear objective of changing the tourism model and the way of doing things. Pueblos Remotos<\/a><\/strong> is the result of this vision, of being able to reactivate rural environments by adding value to the projects developed by their own inhabitants and directly benefiting the local economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
